Future Aspirations:
Computer Science:
-
Mainstreaming GNU/Linux on handheld devices, stabilizing current efforts on HAL layers and libhybris.
(or ok, busybox/musl/linux or even gnu/x/python/sudo/linux, but not KDE/Linux okay?)
-
Secure and more performant virtualization technologies, preferably without need of admin intervention.
(There is nothing wrong with docker here. But we don't like OEMs.)
-
Adapting super-optimizing compiler technologies with real world scenarios to produce more efficient machine code, and for emerging architectures such as RISC-V.
(In an ideal world, every arithmetic operation is actually O(1).)
(So pessimal algorithms won't be that pessimal).
-
X / Wayland compatibility layers for android (honestly I don't know much about it now).
-
Improving data compression technologies to compress arbitrary data more efficiently.
(Not like Microsoft's ridiculous 'compressed folders', or like `rar`, keeping it proprietary and putting video ads in apps. No, that's very low effort way)
-
Building actually practical implementations of RISC-V.
(Wintel, go home)
-
A root toolkit for android with explicit permission control & following unix tradition of sudo / doas. (No more struggles w/ system partitions. Ideally any app should not require full root access or fully permissive SELinux.)
[Aw! Snap. Magisk migrated to C++, which is not a very nice language. [Read a spoof interview w/ Bjarne Strostrup)]
-
Creating more creative reverse engineering tools(Because we have all learnt to hate Nvidiiia)
-
And many more...
-
Physics & Engineering:
-
Improving Agricultural machinary, to be affordable & less demanding in terms of fuels / electricity.
-
Improving Electric cars using non conventional methods.
-
Creating kinetic energy accumulation methods for electricity generation.
-
Improving solenoids & electric generators technologies.
And many more...
